Scythian Stag

Scythian Stag

by | April 14, 2019

The space cracks open like an egg to reveal a golden grave-robbed Scythian stag, rack held high and back, body coiled for the next leap. Ancient art, beauty, wisdom, commitment, love, nourishment, virility, fecundity, promise, boldness, weight of precious metal, food for the living and food for the dead.  Emerging from the space of ruin is the holy god stag, life of a people, gift of food and clothing, tools and wild worthy magnificence.  How shall I appear from ruin to feed my people?  What glimmerings of gold mastery and subtle art might spring into being with my presence and willingness?  May I, like the stag, offer myself to the people.  May I be food and beauty and partnership. May I stand ready to give and receive in one breath.  May I be melded and shaped and formed by the holy in service to the people. Mystery, I do offer this collage work as a way of saying “I am ready, my lord.  Take me.’
